Living Frugal And Being Happy About It.

Frugal? What does that mean? I've heard people ask this question a-lot of times. Not to long ago I myself did not know the answer. But now, I do.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  (Redirected from Frugal)
Frugality is the quality of being frugal, sparing, thrifty, prudent or economical in the use of consumable resources such as food, time or money, and avoiding waste, lavishness or extravagance.[1][2][3][4]
In behavioral science, frugality has been defined as the tendency to acquire goods and services in a restrained manner, and resourceful use of already owned economic goods and services, to achieve a longer term goal.

This does not mean that you have to suffer and live with nothing either. That's the best part!

About two years ago my husband and I were awful at "Blowing" money. It was like we took $500.00 and just caught it on fire. We were broke ALL the time!

There are a few things that we have done to help us save money, and they are:
Power Saving Tips:
1. If your not in a room the lights should not be on.
2. During the day open the blinds/curtains and let some sun in. God gave it to us for a reason!
3. Run only one load of dishes in the dishwasher a day. If you must hand-wash then by all means hand-wash.
4. Try to keep the heat/air on 75 during the summer and about 72/73 during the winter. By doing this we cut our power bill in half.
5. When going to bed cut off as many things as possible, if your not using them there is no reason for them to be running.

Grocery Saving Tips:
1. Coupons - Using coupons can help save on A LOT of things. Go to Coupon Mom to check deals at your regions stores! This site is so helpful when finding the deals in your area since coupons, sales, and advertisements differ by regions.

2. Buy only what you need. Keeping an inventory of your items will help with this problem! Here is a FREE Printable that you can download and print to help with that!

3. Separate your meats. When we buy meats we always buy a family pack. With a large family pack of hamburger meat I can easily get four nights worth of meats out of that. You may not have leftovers but with my family it saves us a ton!

4. Menu planning. When I menu plan I plan a whole months worth of meals, make a LARGE grocery list and then shop ONLY for the items that are on that list. Our budget is about $350.00 for a month. After buying what we need if there is left over money in the budget then we will buy extras. (Ice creams, puddings, colas etc...)

This isn't a-lot but it helps save a-lot. Hope this helps you all if you have anymore ideas that can be added please feel free to leave a comment!
